To achieve these Radics has established all necessary measures and governing procedures as a basis for its QA Program (QAP). Radics is committed to implementing the QAP in all aspects of work related to the design, procurement, manufacturing, testing, inspection, modification, shipment and other related product realization activities.
Radics’ Quality Assurance Program Description (QAPD) is the top-level policy document that establishes the quality assurance policy and assigns major functional responsibilities for activities and key processes
The QAPD establishes quality assurance (QA) and administrative control requirements that meet 10 CFR 50 Appendix B, US NRC Regulatory Guides and applicable standards for DI&C systems and components.
- The QAPD is based on the requirements and guidance of the following documents:
- 10 CFR 50 Appendix B, Quality Assurance Criteria for Nuclear Power Plants and Fuel Reprocessing Plants
- ASME NQA-1-1994 (Basic Requirements with Supplements), ASME NQA-1-2008 and NQA-1a-2009 Addenda, “Quality Assurance Requirements for Nuclear Facility Applications,” Parts I and II, with specific reference to selected Part III sections, as identified in this document
Regulatory Guide 1.28, Revision 4 (2010) “Quality Assurance Program Criteria (Design and Construction).
The QAPD also aligns with additional requirements of ISO 9001:2015, “Quality Management Systems – requirements” by:
- embracing a process-based approach to defining and managing the interfaces and interdependencies between processes;
- adopting risk-based thinking during the planning, development and implementation of the QAP relative to regulatory requirements and the needs of interested parties (i.e. stakeholders such as the US NRC, customers and Radics’ employees); and
- committing resources, applying measurable objectives to key processes and applying the Plan-Do-Check-Act (PDCA) cycle to improve key processes, thereby providing for a culture of continual improvement.
The alignment of the US Nuclear Regulatory requirements and ISO 9001:2015 are meant to integrate the prescriptive QAP requirements of the US Nuclear Industry with the best practices associated with a robust quality management system (QMS) that supports the same high quality deliverables to nuclear customers world-wide, guaranteeing that Radics products and services will meet or exceed customer expectations.
